Chasing A Dream: Ryan Preece A Finalist In National Driver Search Contest

Ryan Preece of Berlin has been named one of 10 finalists in the Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge contest.

Preece, who competes on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and also full-time in the SK Modified divisions at Stafford Motor Speedway and Thompson International Speedway and in the Modified division at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway, was one of hundreds of entrants for the contest.

Preece posted on Facebook Monday evening that he was contacted by Sprint Cup Series team owner and former Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip, who gave him the news that he was one of the finalists.

The top-10 finalists for the contest will participate in a three-day Richard Petty Driving Experience program July 9-11 in Charlotte, N.C. The finalists will be judged through the experience and one grand prize winner will be chosen from the amongst the group.

The “Peak Dream Driver” who is chosen from the top-10 finalists will have the opportunity to become part of the driver developmental program for Michael Waltrip Racing and will also have the opportunity to compete in an event of Peak’s choosing in the summer of fall of this year.
